On my husbands computer we are running Office pro 2010 on Windows 7.I would like to upgrade it to Office pro 2013. But in Outlook 2010 he has like 40 folders with subfolders full of emails. When i upgrade will Outlook 2013 grab all the settings, folders, emails and put them in correctly? I know office 2013 does not go onto of office 2010 because i did it on my own computer but i do not use outlook on mine, i use WLM so i do not remember what it did for outlook because i do not remember if i put an account in there after i installed it or not. I did mine months ago, call it a senior moment.

Does anyone here using Office 2013, did it as an upgrade and found all their settings, folders, emails, calendar and everything else get transferred into outlook 2013 correctly?

I do have a .pst backup just in case but sometimes when putting this back it messes up everything and i do not want to spend hours fixing it nor a divorce (lol) over this.

Oh also, i remember i got in program and features Office 2010 and office 2013, once i knew all was well i uninstalled office 2010, but then again i do not use outlook but for only one exchange account, and everything went fine with uninstalling office 2010, i am hoping from the answer you give me above, this would be the case here to?

I have not been able to find out a lot of information about upgrading from 2010 to 2013.
Open your installed version of Outlook 2013 on your computer & click on the little "?" on the upper RH edge will open the help files. On the search line type, Upgrading from Office 2010, click the search icon & page down, there are some articles there that may help you.

Thanks but maybe someone here did it and can tell me what happened to their outlook, i do not want to try it till i know because i do not want the headache of putting it all back through the backup, sometimes the backup does not do it correctly

Hi there
if you are running OUTLOOK 2010 32 bit edition - before you start download pfbackup.exe from the Ms site - it works with outlook 2010 too. That way you have a separate email backup in case the whole thing goes wrong.

In addition I'd back up the system (take an image with say Free Macrium) too before starting -- then you can restore the whole system if something goes wrong -- you can never have TOO MUCH backup. !!

Then AFAIK outlook 2013 should just upgrade in place (unless you are switching from the 32 bit version of office to a 64 bit version).

Then import manually into outlook 2013. Ensure you've saved the files before starting the process.

I actually HATED office 2013 -- didn't like the bright white / light grey themes that you couldn't change -- took me about 10 mins to decide I don't like this and I reverted back to Office 2010 where I'm staying until it just doesn't work any more - and by then I will have long since retired !!.

Note Outlook 2013 also hoses up things like calendar / tasks etc

Thanks jim,
I backup his pst file weekly now, i use the same method as your second link for outlook 2010
I wanted to do this because i cannot get spk 2 to install so i figured if i upgraded it would take care of the problem but he would freak if something, went wrong, reading some of the comments in the 3rd link you provided, he uses some of those things not in 2013 anymore which he uses now, i think we will wait until i have no choice
