Upgrading from Phenom II x6 1100T

So I'm looking to upgrade from that processor to something that will future proof me for a bit of a longer time.

Current Specs are:

AMD Phenom II x6 1100T @OC 3.8Ghz
8gb Ram
R9 280x
Antec 650 Watt HD
Asus M5A99X Evo Motherboard

Was thinking about switching to intel and buying both a new motherboard and cpu.

Wanting to keep the same video card as above, whats my best bet for something strictly made for gaming?

I was thinking a 4770K with a motherboard? I know a 4670K is equivalent in most games as of now but how much longer will it be equivalent? Is it worth shelling out the more money for the 4770k?

If you're going to upgrade to Intel and you have your mind set on Haswell then go i7 and factor in a great aftermarket cooler along with a proper mobo.

I like this highly reviewed and praised MSI mobo but of course Gigabyte, ASUS an ASRock all have fine boards as does EVGA.

Just want to add, the AMD FX 9370 is only 220$ on sale right now. How does that compare to a 4770k.

Well it saves you a mobo ! And overclocks like a freak'n beast but the 4770k is still a better chip not the gap is relatively narrow and in some programs the 8 cores can help. If I were you I'd pound that 8 core with a huge sealed water and call it a day !

I love my 8 core, and yes, water cooling is a must with the 9370. Reusing the mother board is a plus if it is able to support the 9370. Not every board can support them. If it can, the 9370 sounds like a win-win!
