So I am in the middle of upgrading a bunch of old systems to new windows 7 machines.
The new machine must keep the same name as the old machine it will replace for just the next couple of months. We will be switching to a new core software package that is much better engineered than the current software that we are using. I have 3 machines that I have done the Windows 7 build on and they are in a workgroup at this moment. I will need to begin deploying these to the domain. I have great fear thatthere will be a name conflict with DNS since a computer account with the name will already exist on the server. My question is since I cn't nchange the name of the new computer, can I delete the computer account on the server and then have the new machine join the domain without a conflict?
Thanks in advance for any and all help!
