Hi,

I've a 2 years old laptop - Lifebook AH550 with:

i5-430M
Windows7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1
4GB RAM (DDR3,SODIMM, 1066MHz)
320GB HDD at 5400rpm
1695MB Shared Graphics

I'm planning to replace the 32-bit OS with 64-bit Win7 Ultimate.

This laptop can support 8GB as mentioned in the catalogue.

I guess the processor i5-430M is the first generation processor.

I'm getting two 4GB RAM modules fairly cheap with same speed specifi'x.

May I have your advice on this upgrade plan?

I've no plans to trade off this laptop because its a rare "breed" - Made in Japan by Fujitsu and after 2 years of service it still runs extremely well.

You most likely won't notice any difference in how your computer operates. But in my opinion, upgrading RAM is always a good idea. I did the exact same thing for my Sony Vaio. It also has the 1st generation i5 and it had 4GB 1066 RAM which I upgraded to 8GB 1066. When you check your new system specs you'll probably see roughly 6.25GB available RAM due to the shared graphics. With the 32-bit system you're probably seeing roughly 2.25GB available RAM.

With the existing 32-bit OS , I'm seeing 2.99GB available RAM.
