I am in the proces of trying out. I am making mistakes. It's been a while ( more than two years ) since I was active in this geeky stuff and I need to refresh my memorie.

Also this Sony is very tricky to use but I like it. Its feels robust and is not too big.
I will first now try to get it in the English language without making a total mess of the key board and then continue with the Windows 7 update. I am sure I will get there with your help.

still no joy with the language change, but keep on it. was ready to boot on the paragon adaptive restore 2010 that Kaktussoft so kindly offered, put it on a USB stick and an external harddrive but booth did not work. the external harddrive was found by the Sony as possibility and I tryed, it took a long time and the drive was flashing/working, but in the end it booted into the old Vista.
So I opened up the downloaded files of paragon, and it came out there was stuff not right, could not be read correctly.
I did all the work on my PH as the Sony is still in French.
So I will try next to go for your second option, perhaps that Works better for me.

The paragon iso is bootable. Bootable iso file needs to be burnt as image to cd/dvd ( copying doesn't work)

There are also tools to create bootable usb sticks from iso files. Rufus

Hi SIW2, I try and try but I get the message that my " paragon adaptive restore 2010 " is not good. there are parts missing.

I cannot use the Raymond. CC tool, because the Windows 7 professional on my HP can not go on the Sony.

The Sony has Vista Home Basic and can only be uploaded to Windows 7 home Basic.

You are not doing an upgrade install, you are doing either a transfer of the hard disk, or a clean install.

Then try the Raymond tool. If the Raymond tool does not work it will be because your bios is too old. That is ok because you have the win7 professional product key.

The windows 7 professional key will only activate professional edition.

You might need to use your windows 7 professional key.

That is why you have to install professional edition.

You must be quiet fed-up with me by now. I am dutch, dyslectic and NOT at all a computer geek.

It is mentioned every where that you can only change from Windows Vista edition Familiale Premium service pack 2 to Windows 7 Home edition, so I am confused . Very good news I don't need the horrible french keyboard at all.

That is for an upgrade installation.

A clean installation is completely different.

Professional is installed in exactly the same way.

1. You need to download or backup the windows 7 drivers before you start.

You can back up the drivers from the vista installation - before you install windows 7

backup drivers

The windows 7 32 bit network drivers are here:

Put the drivers somwhere safe - for example on a usb stick.

On that machine, 32 bit windows 7 will perform better. Do you have the installation media for 32 bit windows 7 professional?


2. Clean install windows 7 professional from the dvd.

3. After it has installed, you can then install the drivers, then try raymond tool.

If the bios is too old, the Raymond tool will tell you. Then you can use your windows 7 professional license key.

I have a Windows 7 pro Sp 2 DVD+R made with the help of ADDRAM on 6/4/2016 for the HP, we made that because I wanted it in english ( the HP was also a gift and originally in Dutch.}

That did the work on the HP perfect, but is now 3 years ago, so I forgotten all the instructions

I have now the double drive backup of the Sony on a USB stick and have successfully downloaded Inte(R) PRO set/Wireless software " Wifi_Win7_64_15.3.1exe on the Sony.

Now whats next please ?

The Windows 7 DVD from 6/4/16 Windows Pro SP 1 English from ADDRAM does not want to work on the Sony
It worked briljant on the HP
