This is really urgent if someone could help me asap it'd be great. I went to sleep last night with the computer on (Win7 7077) like always and this morning it's still on but none of the usb devices are working, monitor doesn't come back from sleep state but the fans on all the components are still spinning. I tried hard rebooting 3-4 times and still nothing. I let it sit and cool off for a bit and still nothing. Anyone know what the problem could be? I was thinking it was the motherboard but then wouldn't the ethernet light be off if the board wasn't working? The only thing on the computer the has been overclocked is the CPU which I took from 3.0ghz to 3.8ghz and it's been running fine on the stock cooler for the past 6 months almost and then bam it's like this. I don't think it could of been over heating as the temps usually run 30C at idle and 50-60C at full load and the side is off of it. Please help me figure this out I'm running around not knowing what to do because this is my life we're talking about :(

Thanks.

Silly question, have you tried in safe mode, or do you get no screen at all (not even POST)?

I assume you have at least 2 ram sticks in there. Swap each one out then try, but from what you've written it would seem to be a mobo or graphics card issue.

Does your PC make any 'beeps' when first powered up? (make sure it has an internal PC speaker connected, some ppl disconect them for a quite life)

If it beeps more than once, then them beeps are telling you which bit has problems.. so you need to count how many beeps are emitted.

Do you get any activity at all? Even if you get no display there may be some action going on (hd access). It does sound like something has blown out, does your MOBO have any form of on-board GFX? At least if it did it could rule out the GFX card being at fault.

LOL, Generator got there first with my first sentence

I unhooked everything and hooked just the mobo up and powered on. The cpu heatsink comes on, cuts off and then back on but it's always done that. Turned off and plugged the gfx card in and powered up. Both come on and sound normal. I hear no beeps as I've got no speakers, where would the internal speaker be on the computer?

Just got off the phone with someone that saw my help post on Craigslist and they said it could be the power supply losing voltage or the monitor. I've got a new monitor coming in today so I'll try that and the power supply to. Only problem is all my other PCs that still work are to old to even remotely power up this machine. Also, took the memory out and no beeps, I'll hook the internal speaker back up and test it to.

This may be a moot point but how long have you had b7077 installed? It sounds like a wake-up from sleep problem just like mine had, I went back to b7057. Maybe this is different..

OK, hope you manage to sort it, I know how sickening it feels when your main PC is poorly. :(

Best of luck with it and keep us all informed.

Edit: He said he's tried hard booting 3-4 times Beginning, wouldn't that 'wake' it?

Just hooked everything back up and what would you know some of the power connectors are literally missing. I was wondering why they were super easy to pull out to. But it were to I wasn't using and everything, I mean EVERYTHING turned on and powered up but still I see nothing on the monitor and my USB devices don't work. I'll try unhooking the gfx card and see if that gives power to the USB devices.

Hi Bryce,

Sorry to hear about your problem. It is possible that it is down to you overclocking your CPU. Many can be safely overclocked by between 5% to 10% with no ill effects, but you have overclocked yours by 25% which is quite a large amount. There is nothing wrong with overclocking - indeed, I have done it myself on one of my previous systems - but it can lead to a significant reduction in the serviceable life of the overclocked components. They can be running OK one moment and can die the next.

However, there is one thing you can try and that is resetting the CMOS to its default values.
Capture.PNG
I suggest that you use the method of removing the battery, waiting a few minutes, and then reinserting it.

Hooked everything up and turned on. Everything powers up but still nothing on the monitor or power to the USB devices. I unhooked the graphics card to see if that was taking to much power and still nothing on th USB devices or monitor. There is a quick "hummmmm" when I cut it on but I can't really tell where it's coming from though. I called Best Buy, whinces and they said they'd do a free test on it should I just take it up there. I know, asking about that on a computer forum, but I don't know what else to do.

EDIT: I've already tried resetting the CMOS. The guy I called up from Craigslist suggested that.
