Yes i just noticed that. I apologize.

Take that back, I found the model number and such: HP 635 Notebook PC specifications - HP Small & Medium Business products

It is eligable up to 8GB.

Hp 635 notebook pc, its all it says

Obviously the slots are fine otherwise it would only register 1GB ram stick.

so what could be the problem

Motherboard - No

Hi please help, I have just installed an additional 1 GB ram to my 2GB on an hp 635, problem is that it has put all the 1GB to system reserved memoty and only 1.60 is usable, hoe do I fix this, im using windows 7 home basic on an hp 635

Check your RAM sticks are all plugged in correctly. Take them out,clean the slts with compressed air (any cleaner of your choice) and plug in the RAM sticks back one at a time. Wiggle the sticks a bit, if they wobble alot, then you'll have to get a replacement.
Put in one stick, boot up computer to check computer has recognized that stick, then put in the second one, boot up computer and check if its been recognized and so on untill all sticks are securely in.

if i go to resorce monitor it shows hardware reserved memory as 1430MB

Try and switch the slots of the RAM sticks

Also, Check the BUS speeds of the ram sticks. how many MHz are they running at?

download that free program and click the RAM tab, Next to max bandwidth it will tell you how in () how many MHz there are

665 mhz

yes both of them, bt its kind of flactuating to 671 and back to 665

Sorry buddy, I wasn't sleeping right for a few days so i tried to get a all nights sleep.

Try these things:

Enable the memory remapping in the BIOS(but your computer may not support it)

Also try adjusting the AGP video settings in the BIOS. I recommend to make sure it is on "Auto"

Like u said it doest support it, if i go to the bios there is no option to change anything except for time, and boot order and language, besides that evrything else is feint u cannot go to edit them

1. It's a notebook and their is only so much can do.
2. Let Windows 7 handle mapping the memory, it does it quiet well
3. Adding 1 gig of ram to any computer will show very very little difference.

windows is not allocating the 1GB to windows but to hardware instead, it makes a difference because right now i do not have 2GB but 1.60GB
