Well it is extremely weird that even when you install the 2GB stick, that it is not registering properlly, but like Ladyback said, there isn't going to be a noticeable difference in your computer performance.

Just leave the 2GB in there IMO.

WEll you could also just keep both 1 GB sticks in there that you originally had.

You could always install max. ram amount for your notebook. You would see a difference.
