USB bandwidth limits.. slow transfer from usb devices

Is there a way to temporarily disable to bandwidth limiter on the usb controller? When I connect a usb2 device while running windows 7, the fastest I can get files to transfer is about 8MB/sec. I know my hardware is capable of much faster speeds because when move the same file(s) to or from the same device while booted up in ubuntu, I get transfer speeds well over 50Mb/sec. I have all the newest available drivers for my system (forcibly installed over the ones windows wanted me to use in some cases). The ICH9m driver is one example. Before I forced that one into the system, transfer speeds started around 500K/sec and slowly stepped up to about 3Mb/sec. In the device properties I noticed some of the bandwidth is reserved for the system, but not enough to account for the difference between what my hardware is capable of and the actual performance I get. Any suggestions?

No advice but I can tell you that I get 35Mb/sec from my external USB2 HDD and I have not touched any USB or bandwidth limiter
settings.


Both my XP and Win7 installs report the same speed.

Obviously you need the correct Windows 7 compatible chip-set driver to get USB2 working correctly.

In that case, the correct driver hasn't been released yet.

I got the driver from the Intel site, I think it was released in December 09 and I believe my USB is working at correct speed.

problem solved.. updated the intel matrix storage manager... now it writes to external drive @100MB/sec
