USB Dedicated to ReadyBoost

On my HP G50-112NR Notebook, 32bit, I inserted a 16G Verbatim USB flash drive to learn about ReadyBoost. I clicked on "Dedicate this device to ReadyBoost," thinking that I could change my mind later and "undo" it. I can't!! The USB had a few files on it & Properties shows they are still there. Device Manager says the USB is working properly. But when I try to "Open" the drive, the resulting window says it's empty. I have tried clicking "Do not use. . ." but nothing happens. I want to Undo the ReadyBoost "dedication" & restore the USB to normal use. How do I do that? (Unless I receive some good advice, I'm going to Format the USB).

Safely remover usb device, then plug usb device back in. Go to start, computer and on the left side near bottom you should see computer. Under that Local Disk(C and any other Local disk you might have, then you should see the usb device's name. In my case "kingston (F, right click that, click properties. In the properties window select "ReadyBoost" tab, then select do not use this device. Click apply and OK.

Thanks Basfisher 6522, but if you carefully read my Post, you'll see that I clearly stated that I had tried clicking "Do not use . . . " and that it didn't work.

Do you have a system restore point? Restore to before you enabled Readyboost.

Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries. Try a reboot and then follow procedure in link.

you might not be able to retrieve the data in your USB flash disk, but, if you wanna disable the ready boost, just quick format the disk.
