Folks,

I have been working on this on/off all weekend and I STILL cannot get my USB 2.0 ports to work again and they were all working fine for the past 10 months. All 8 USB ports stopped working in 2.0 mode last week. They work perfectly fine in 1.1 mode using the standard Host Controller (BIOS is set for 1.1+2.0) when I disable the enhanced host controller.

My drivers are apparently screwed and I have done mostly everything suggested in various web sites to revive them (they had to be overwritten!).

My mobo doesn't have any updated chipset drivers (nVidia) and I simply reloaded my XP drivers to no avail.

Outside of the obvious/common troubleshooting, any one have any thoughts on this issue? I believe an update killed my ports!

Thanks!
BillyD

Crap...neither method did a thing. Once the Enhanced Host Controller comes back, the USB devices die. If I disable the EHCI, all USB devices work...of course at v1.1 speeds! :banghead:

Next?

Thanks!

This was the fix. In troubleshooting the USB 2.0 issue, I noticed I had to disable 1 of my USB Root Hubs to get any USB 2.0 device to work even in 1.1 mode~! So, I figured my BIOS was corrupt. With nothing to lose, I cleared BIOS, loaded BIOS Optimized settings and waala...all fixed. This was for a FIC K8MC51G mobo using nVidia 430 chipset and Phoenix BIOS.

I thought I'd complete this for the benefit of others.

Thanks!
