Hi All,

I'm having an issue where after I have connected to my office network my USB ports seem to stop working and the laptop will not shutdown.

The USB ports that were connected to devices prior to connecting to the office network keep working but no new devices are detected.

When shutdown the laptop sits at the shutting down screen indefininately.

I have had this issue with two HP laptops now but other within the office are using the same laptops without fault. Also I have had this laptop for a few months now without fault.

I dont have auto updates turned on so it shouldn't be something intorduced by an update.

Please help!!!

OK so neither of the fixes above did anything...

Any ideas as to why it only starts after I have connected to the office network?

Could it be related to synchronising files?

This is so annoying

I don't think syncing would cause it. How are you connecting to the office networks, at home or physically at the office? IF others' computers are OK, I think something you installed has borked it.

I will ask a network pro to have a look.

I'm not a network pro, but have a question and a suggestion.

Concerning the updates being turned off, does that include Windows updates?

You might do a check/repair of protected system files by following this tutorial:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

Please be sure to to remember to answer Britton30's question about how you're connecting to the network (from home or at the office). It would also be helpful to know if you're connected via a domain.

Is it your own computer or one provided to you by your company?

Yes all windows updates are turned off, some of the PLC programming software I run does not like certain updates so i'm choosy re which ones get installed...

The issue only occurs when I have connected to my office network i.e. logged onto the office server...

I am suspecting this has something to do with offline file synchronisation although I cant understand why this should effect the USB ports...
