I have an HP EliteBook 8460p running Windows 7 Professional x64. For no apparent reason, I started experiencing strange behavior from all USB ports. If I plug in a device, I hear 3 low-pitched tones in succession and the device does not work. In order to use any USB device, I must shut down the computer, plug the device in, and then start up, in which case everything works fine. I found one article suggesting to update the BIOS, which I did, but still the same behavior. Any ideas? Thanks!
