USB Ports supporting External Storage do not appear OR work?

Product: HP Elite 6300 CMT

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-Bit)

The System recognizes and supports the USB Keyboard, Mouse and Printer.

It will not recognize or support External USB Storage Devices like a Thumb Drive or Disk Drive.

When plugged in the System does nothing and they do not appear in Start, Computer.

PLEASE help if you will.

I would like to run a Full Backup and then an Easy File Transfer to an External Drive.

did you check in diskmgmt? Possibly need a drive letter assigning.

1) Swap out the keyboard and place external drive in keyboard's USB port.

2) Check BIOS:

- Does USB media appear as a boot option, when device plugged in?
- Are there any USB legacy settings to Enable?​

Tried but there are no External USB Devices listed, please see Attachment-1.

USB is a Boot option in the BIOS however, I just want to do a Backup.
I did not see any. USB is available in the Legacy Bios.

I will try the Keyboard thing after I submit this as a precaution.

Thank you gentlemen and thank you Jesus!

I unplugged the Keyboard from a USB-2 Port.
I plugged in a Thumb Drive into the same USB-2 Port.
Windows-7 did it's thing and recognized it and made the happy ding sound.
I was so anxious as the wheel spun and Windows reported the progress it was making installing the device.
Success!
I then plugged the Keyboard into a vacant USB-3 Port and the same thing happened.
Success.
I then plugged in my External Drive and just as before, wheel spins, windows dings and I am so happy.

I do not understand what happened but I am starting a Backup followed by the Easy File Transfer.

There is no joy in MudVille.

I forgot about my other problem, the one that started this, Backup and Restore will not start.

I tried but "no cigar".

East File Transfer did start so I can have 'somewhat' of a Backup.

Any thoughts on why Backup and Restore will not start?

"Mighty Casey struck out".
I had to cancel the Easy File Transfer after it had been running over +-14 hours.
It appeared to be stuck on the very last category, Shared Files.
It spent at least 12 of the 14 hours on it.
I am trying to load an EFT from about two weeks prior to the one I cancelled.
If it is successful, I will copy and paste any files that my wife or I can 'think' we need.
After that, I will retry the EFT that would never end.
While it runs, I will search for the Software CD's of Apps that we used, MS Office, etc.

Yikes!

What a struggle but with many pieces in different forms, I believe I have my System running 99.9% of what it was.
