Solved USB\ROOT_HUB\ Waking computer.

I have an issue where the computer is set in sleep mode and after 5 seconds of sleep it would power on to Windows again. This of course is without any interference from me.

Before you say it, I have read the tutorials and I know how to fix this usually, but it isn't a device directly waking up the computer. (I have disabled the HID - Mouse from waking computer setting)

My suspicions from the start are from my Logitech mouse as my standard USB mouse isn't an issue. I just want my keyboard to wake my computer nothing else. ( Oh and the NIC of course for remote use) As of now what I have found is the same issue with other wireless mouse users but no real solutions.

How do I disable the device in question "USB\ROOT_HUB\4&2386b151&0". In succession I have traced the source but can't find a disable setting.

(If you're wondering this what my mouse ID is when I intentionally wake the computer.)

I have tried that and it just responds with "You do not have permission to enable or disable device wake."

I am running as an Administrator, and did the usual "Run as Administrator". Still no.

Am I missing anything?

I meant to add that the ADW you download from bleeping computer the SAS will probably pick up a few trackers too.

I was interested as you mentioned the issue with the mouse and as nowadays they seem to include a lot of onboard software themselves if that isn't interfering with the system.

It's all clear with the scans, I used my normal software found no virus, malware ect. and systems file check came clean as well. It's good to get that clear.

I am for some reason focused on that mouse and the software that came with it - personally I don't like stuff like that and am wondering what would happen if you uninstalled that and used the other mouse.

As another point of curiosity how long as this been the problem? - am thinking perhaps a system restore.

Woops.. I'm a prat, it's not the mouse (although I have had sleep issues with it before). I found the culprit, I didn't think of the USB headers. My water cooling system *albeit budget watercooling* is using USB to regulate fan and pump speed.

I have uploaded an image for anyone else with this cooler.. The Device ID matches anyway, the latest drivers are installed, the software for the cooler is installed.

Any ideas? On how to disable it waking the computer from sleep.

*Two things to note, the fan speed is below the bios recommend RPM due to being a watercooler.
*Fan speed is maxed out when USB isn't working.

At least I know what it is now. (Took ages to find it as there are a lot of USB devices to look at.)

Was the device listed as a device that is able to wake the computer?

Emm, no...

I powered of the computer, then unplugged the usb connection *fans ramped up of course on restart*

Booted into Windows, put it to sleep and it was dormant Tried 2,3 times and it remained on standby.

Good news in sorts but weird how windows didn't report it. Annoyingly the mouse still can wake the computer despite disabling all the settings I can find to prevent it waking my computer but that's another issue.

I knew about that setting but just to be sure I just checked it and it was disabled. (power-on with mouse) Tried with keyboard and the computer wouldn't wake unless it was enabled, it's wakes regardless the settings with the mouse. Am guessing the bios doesn't see the mouse as a mouse as it's a wireless Logitech mouse.

Any idea upon the sleep issue? How to stop the device from waking my pc, the powercfg disable wake command just reports back with "you do not have permission to enable or disable device wake".

Unfortunately, the disable wake command will not work unless the device was listed as able to wake the computer.

All the settings for it look correct, so I'm not sure what else would prevent it from either waking the PC like that either other than unplugging it. You might try a different USB port to see if it may make a difference. I'm not sure it will though.

I am pleased to confirm it has stopped, I am sad to report that I don't fully understand how but it is certainly an OS fault with its driver and maybe even fan speed issues. (BIOS reports fan speed issues, it's disabled in BIOS. Still reports fan speed to OS)

I disabled everything, I mean everything that could even attempt to wake my computer and then just enabled ps2 keyboard and NIC WOL and it did the trick. Annoyingly there isn't an option to disable the Antec CC wake but it seems to of stopped.
