As per title.

Hitachi Touro 4TB USB3 external drive ejects during sleep mode and often is not acessable or listed in My Computer. It is however listed in the attached SATA drives in the Notification Area and is listed in Devices and Printers.

When this happens the PC hangs during a restart. I suspect because it is waiting for a drive to spin down that isn't connected.

I'm using the latest USB 3 driver from Intel for my board (Asus X99-A) and have tried turning off the option to turn off the drive to save power in device manager.

It still intermittently ejects and won't reconnect after sleep mode though.

Coming out of sleep mode I notice there is the sound of a USB device physically being unplugged and then plugged back in again, yet the drive remains inaccessible.

Please help, it's becoming annoying.

Thanks

Hello elbeasto!

This could be a sign of the drive itself having issues. I would suggest you to firstly check the drive's health, the manufacturer should have a software for a scan.

Use a different USB cable as well, and check if you need to install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver.

Try the drive on another system, does it do the same?
