I have most of it figured out, thanks to you folks in this forum. One thing that I am still trying to work out is in this standard user profile, my printer runs way too slow. In the Admin account, it's lightning fast.

One thing to try is, as the admin, go into the printer properties and on the security tab give your user the right to "manage printer"
this is the same rights as the admin so may improve things

I went into printer properties from admin. Changed what I could but got the same slow printing. This will determine whether or not we use this account. This very important to my wife as she prints a lot. If I can't make this work, I will just use admin account. That is what I have always used until recently, when someone said I shouldn't do this.

I did it for performance. Please enlighten me if that was not needed. Also, before I new this about not using Admin account, I have downloaded Google Chrome, Firefox and other things. IE is set up the way my wife likes it. I don't really want to download all this software again and don't know about finding every bookmark for every browser. Is there a way to move or transfer things from Admin account to the user account? I don't want Firefox and Google Chrome on here twice.

The easiest way to keep your settings is after creating the new standard user assign it as the admin. Then you can log into your old account as a standard user with your usual settings.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of having a user account for security? I don't want anyone to get in to my admin account yet I assign admin access to a user account? I must be missing something. Could you explain it to me? Thanks,

I figured it out. It was a setting in my printer settings. (fast economy printing) I'm getting closer to an exact match in a user account. I will, however, have more questions for you.

John,

the suggestion here is that you create a new admin account for use when needed, and then demote your original admin user to a standard user, which you use for day to day operations.

This method provides you with a standard user with all the settings that you have already set , such as favorites, printing, wallpaper Etc.

A possible disadvantage is that any bloat/settings errors due to the inevitable "messing about" that always happens with the first User account on a system is also retained.
