Hello Forum,

I am unable to log into my system (running Windows 7 Home Premium). The logon screen appears as it always does, prompting me for my password. I enter my password and instead of logging into Windows I get the message; “The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User Profile cannot be loaded”. Has anyone experienced this problem, anyone have a solution??

Thanks!

I experienced this problem and just solved this a few hours ago. Do you have an alternate account? If you do, follow the steps written in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...-failed-logon-user-profile-cannot-loaded.html

You must make sure that the alternate account is also an administrator. Else, boot to safe mode, which allows you to login to the administrator account, and follow the same steps written in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...-failed-logon-user-profile-cannot-loaded.html

Thanks for the reply Hermit17,

I will look into your solution. Do you (or anyone else) happen to know if you can restore your system using a previously created restore point while in Safe Mode?

Yes you can, but the best solution would be just editing the registry so that no data is lost.

hermit17 ...fyi,

I was successful in editing the registry to solve my login problem. However, I am unable to change the 'sleep' settings on my system. I get a message; "Your Power Plan Information isn't available". (see attached). Could this have anything to do with the registry edits??

hermit17,

Please disregard my last post regarding the "Power Plan..." portion since all is working fine now. I thank you once again and very much appreciate your help!!
