Hey guys,

I'm running Windows 7 SP1 on my computer, and would like to remotely manage some of our Hyper-V servers.

One of them is a Windows Server 2008 R2 (essentially Windows 7) host, and I am able to add that just fine and remotely connect to all the VMs.

However, we just got a new server the other day and installed Server 2012 R2 on it. I try to connect to that and it says "The operation on computer '[computer name]' failed."

I'm guessing this has to do with the fact that Microsoft is trying to force people to upgrade to Windows 8 for every little thing, why else would it not work? I double-checked the settings, and they're basically the same between the two machines.

I have read that 2012 should work, but even third-party products say support for 2012 R2 is "coming soon."

Does anyone know any way to use the Hyper-V Manager (as part of the Windows Server Remote Administration Tools package) on Windows 7 to manage VMs on a 2012 R2 machine?
