I've built Windows 7 32 bit on my Vaio VGN-AR71S, but the memory card slots are missing. I've tried installing fixes but they've not worked. Any suggestions.

Also the BD/DVD eject button beside the keyboard doesn't work - can this be enabled in Windows 7?

Many thanks,

Dazzer

Welcome to SF, Dazzer.

First, what do you mean the memory card slots are missing? Are you saying the slots you install memory into are physically not there?

You can eject your optical drive by selecting COMPUTER, right clicking on your optical drive, and left clicking on EJECT.

There is also an itty bitty hole next to the eject button of the optical drive. If you stick a paperclip into there and push, it will open. That's the only other way to open the tray when you have no power.

It's not a paperclip. It's a specialized metal optical disk remover (that way, you can charge more money for it)

Missing SD slots in Windows 7 64 on Vaio AR71s

Hello,

I've a Sony Vaio AR71S laptop. I've just upgraded it to 64-bit and installed SSD drives. I works fine, but can't see the SD/MemoryStick cards.

I fixed this in 32-bit. Can't quite remember how. But when I update driver is 64-bit it finds the driver but says it's not for this device.

I guess I need to make it run the slots as 32-bit compatible, but how?

Also the DVD eject etc controls don't work. Any idea how to fix that?

Regards,

Dazzer
