Hi All,

Firstly pc specs:- Gigabyte MA-790FXT-UD5P | AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2 GHz | 8GB DDR 3 Kingston HyperX | PowerColor HD 4870 1GB GDDR5 | Windows 7 Home 64 Bit

Looking for help with the following please:-

Machine was built a little over 2 years ago. Problem has been on and off for some time, but seems to be getting worse, esp in FSX and more recently following on from the release of the 737NGX - not saying any fault in this, but think it's more likely the extra system load that it creates.

Problem is the BSODs! They are random in their frequency and random in when they appear, e.g. no particular application - sometimes I can use the PC for say 12 hours without any problem, sometimes a few minutes!

Temps as far as I can see are fine - highest cpu temp is 65 degrees c, but tends to be around 60 c.
GPU is typically around 56 - 59 degress c in FSX.

As far as drivers go, the graphics is upto date. Looking around for a chipset driver though (from GigaBytes web site) links me to just an old ATI (video driver) driver. Not sure if a driver exists?!

Windows updates are up to date.

Latest BIOS applied F8c

One thing that has always struck me as odd, (i only found this out after buying the components) is that the RAM motherboard voltage runs at a minimum of 1.6v The Kingston RAM itself requires 1.5v Would this cause problems?

I've ran Prime 95 for 5 hours with FFT and Blend tests - no problems.

Ran memtest for around 6 hours - no problems.
Ran OCCT for an hour and no problems found.

Docs uploaded as listed in the posting instructions,

appreciate any help.

Thanks

Carl

Alright, first and foremost, uninstall AVG and install Microsoft Security Essentials at least to test. Your BSODs are mostly graphics related, but are rather random, as well. There were two instances caused by AVG, and AVG has been known to cause random BSODs.

If uninstalling AVG does not resolve the issue, post back with your newest BSOD minidmp files, and we can proceed from there.

Hi,

Thankyou - uninstalled AVG yesterday and tested a flight ok.
Tried this evening (although was running in x2 simulation which has produced a BSOD before and we get a BSOD.

Dump attached, if you wish to take a look at the latest dumpfiles.

Thanks

Carl

That BSOD was inconclusive with an unknown module causing it. Recommend updating the drivers I suggested, and also check device manager for any device drivers with a triangular exclamation point next to them. To open device manager
1. Click Start Menu
2. Right click My Computer
3. Click Manage
4. Click Device Manager from the left list

Alternatively
1. Click Start Menu
2. Click Control Panel
3. Click Hardware and Sound
4. Click Device Manager

Also, I noticed that you had an error with the flight simulator program that recommended you do a check of your hard disk. If you have not done so, instructions on how to do the check follow:
1. Click Start Menu
2. Click My Computer
3. Right click your C: (or whatever drive the program is installed on) drive
4. Click Properties
5. Click the tools tab
6. Click Check Now
7. Tick the option to Automatically fix file system errors
8. Click OK
9. Click Yes
10. Restart your computer.

If you have already done the above, I would recommend uninstalling and re-installing your flight simulator program as it seems you have some corrupted files that may be causing your blue screen error. You may also look into How to manually remove and reinstall .Net Framework 2.0 as it also caused a crash of the flight simulator application.

Yes; I recommend running both a second time to make sure all fixes have been applied. You should repeatedly run until the report is that no errors were found. If you continue to find errors after three or four passes, your hard drive may be failing, but that is usually rare.

Let me know what happens after you run the next pass. Good luck!

Alright, sounds mostly good. If you continue to get blue screens again, post them on here and we'll take a look into resolving the new ones. Hopefully updating drivers will help. Best wishes. :)
