Hello,
I have an HP G62 laptop and it has been running wonderfully for a year, it is a farely new computer. Then last week it was been running terrible slow due to the physical memory being almost 95% used. I have an i5 processor and 3GB of RAM and all i use this for is for school, i have all microsoft tools (word, powerpoint, ect) and i dont game on this computer. I have been deleting unnecessary programs and defragmenting but it hasnt seemed to change anything. I have Norton 360 and i dont think i have a virus, or maybe i do??? My computer takes extremely long amounts of time to open internet explorer, itunes, or anything. If you know any advice, anything would be appreciative. I am not an expert on computers, so if you could explain in kid-friendly language, i would appreciate that. Lastly, if you need to know anything else, i would be more than happy to explain (computer specs ect,)

Welcome to SevenForums.

You can help us by completing your system specs:

UPDATE YOUR SEVENFORUMS SYSTEM SPECS

User CP (3rd item in the top menu bar) |
in left-hand column, under Your Profile, Edit System Spec |

Use Speccy - System Information - Free Download
and/or SIW to gather info for filling in the blanks.

Do me a favor and add the word laptop or desktop to the “system manufacturer” block.

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader, Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor

Scroll down and click on the SAVE CHANGES button.

Now run CleanMgr.exe

After that, download, install and run CCleaner (link in my sig).

Run the cleaner portion thereof.

After having let ccleaner clean, then carryout following:

LIST OF STARTUP PROGRAMS USING CCLEANER

CCleaner | Tasks icon | Startup tab | click on Save to text file button (bottom right side)

Using the PAPER CLIP icon in the top panel of a Message Reply window, attach the .txt file generated by CCleaner.

Press CTRL+ALT+Delete to bring up task manager to see what is happening when you experience these moments of slow. You will see in process what program is using up most of your CPU or Ram. Off top of my head sounds like virus or Norton just using up alot of resources. Id scan your computer using Superantispyware or Malwarebytes both are free and very good. I prefer super.

armondo,
The txt file generated by CCleaner will show us the list shown in the startup tab of msconfig.

Let us wait and see the results of the first tasks then we will have a better idea as how to proceed.
