Well, you haven't checked the services yet, have you?

Other programs will have other issues you might not like.

If you do want to go for brilliance, go for acronis.

Ha, don't worry, I've not given up It's just that I will get a backup solution in place, probably Mozy and then will resume debugging this.

It's one of the oddest problems I've seen.
