VGA to HDMI convertor - signal drops out when windows starts?

Hi,
Hope somebody out there can help. I have recently bought a new samsung TV after my old one gave out. My new tele does not have a RGB port to connect a VGA cable to so I can use my PC on it like my old one did, it only has HDMI in and my PC has only VGA out. I bought a VGA to HDMI converter box from maplin and when I start up my PC the picture appears on my TV as it goes through its boot up. It displays windows is preparing but then, at the point windows would normally open, the signal to my TV dies and it just displays the no signal message on the screen. If I start thr PC in safe mode, windows boots up fine and the signal does not drop out. I am using windows 7. Does anybody know how I fix this?

Hello and welcome Lovett mate some system specs please http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html
it is hard to work on the problem unless we know what we are dealing with. Sounds to me like a graphics driver or hardware problem.
But for starters can you run this and send back what the temps are in normal mode and perhaps running a scan for malware.

I really appreciate you taking the time to come back to me. I have run the malware scan and all is clear there. I have run your system specs tool too but the auto update to the forum site wont work so I have manually copied as much of the information across as I can find. If you need any of the other ones on there, could you let me know how to find them cos I can not see them on the tool.
Other steps I have taken since originally posting
-running the pc with cleanboot in place
-updating all drivers for my graphics card
-Ran the display quality trouble shooter

Still no luck I'm afraid. Is there anything else you could possibly suggest that might do it? I'm really struggling. Thanks again for your time

Ok mate now what I can find only tells me that the VGA is an analogue signal and the HDMI digital and it needs a converter. Other searches have said yes the graphics but the sound has to be another cable.
This is typical of the searches but I was rather guessing that the problem would be a technical one/

Hi again.
Sorry for a slow reply.
So... I already have the powered convertor that you have posted links to. This works to the extent that I get a signal from the PC to my tv during PC boot up and the 'no-signal' msg on my tv only kicks in once windows boots up. I keep the signal in safe mode boot up tho. I believe the connections are good but it must be something to do with the resolution coming from the PC to my tv not being compatible once windows starts. I have tried playing around with the resolution whilst in safe mode then restarting the PC in standard mode but still no joy. I don't know what else to try, if you have any more suggestions, I would be very grateful.

Hiyya Mark no need for sorry mate we all have other things to do. Yes I think it is all to do with res and I think I saw some refs to that in the Googles I did re those adaptors.
Apart form getting a machine with the appropriate sockets mate I think you may be stuck with this unless we can find an alternative method of getting the signal to the TV. But that I suspect would be quite expensive as those sorts of things tend to be.
