When I first installed the OS I used windows update in order to install a driver for my vid card. I am now trying to use a driver from nvidia. I go through the entire process of installation smoothly, restart, but when I go back into the device manager the same microsoft driver is there.

Check the install .inf by opening in a notepad and see if your card and device id are listed in it. Which video card are you using?

well i restarted the OS, and didnt install the driver though windows update, just dled the nvidia driver and used that.

But I am still having the same problems that I hoped would be fixed by installing the nvidia driver. There are many things that seems laggy. When I open and close windows it isnt smooth, steam windows are never smooth, and counterstrike is a bit skippy even though my fps stays strong and my ping is fine.

Im using a 260 gtx.
