I usually have all my folders set in Windows Explorer to View > List ( with a couple of exceptions).

However every time I insert a CD/DVD the default showing is always View > Details.

If I change it to View > List , close and re-open Windows Explorer , it reverts back to View > Details. This happens with all CD/DVD's.

Is there some easy way to have by default View > List on all CD/DVD's that I look at in Windows Explorer?

Any advice appreciated.

Open windows Explorer, right-click on the drive icon either in My Computer or in the navigation pane, choose Properties -> Customize. There you can choose what kind of folder that is, the choice is betwen General Items, Documents, Pictures, etc. Choose the one that corresponds to your list view.

To explain this last sentence: in windows explorer click on Organize -> Folder and Search options -> View. There you can see Folder views with the choice to make all folders of "this type" to look the same. The "type" of the folder refers to the above choice in the "Customize" tab of the folder properties. This means that unless you deal with folders one be one, all folders of the type "Documents" will look the same. That means, if you take any folder of the type "Documents", set it to List view, and then make all folders of this type too like like this one in Folder options, then all folders of the type "Documents" will be shown in List view (please do not confuse this with the unfortunately named My Documents folder). At the same time all folders of the type "General Items" might be shown in "Details" view, etc.
