this isn't so much a problem as just a curiosity.
I'm running ShellFolderFix to correct the arrangement problem, and that is still working fine (the dimensions I want recycling bin to have remain the same when I click the desktop shortcut), but inexplicably, after working normally all day (view by 'details'), now every time I open it it has reverted to displaying 'tiles' rather than 'details'.

what causes these weird little glitches? (another one is how I will change the capitalization of a file, and then the display appears to undo the change I have just made...once I manually click 'refresh' I see the change displayed accurately. ...this only happens about 60/70% of the time so far, which is to say it once used to auto-update the text properly)

Never mind--I think this problem coincides with a Windows auto-update I wasn't aware was awaiting a shut down to be installed.

I've noticed that those updates reconfigure my 'shut down button' to its default (I had it set to 'restart'), so I guess it's possible that they alter other things on the O/S while pending install.

the problem is no longer occurring.

hmmm. I'm not sure about that 'solved' tick

...I returned to the forum to announce that the problem had returned (this time unaccompanied by an 'install updates and shutdown' message on the shutdown button or any other clue to its cause)... but normal behavior resumed once again in the time it took me to get to this page. bah!!

I can't find any correlation between this defaulting behavior it is showing and anything else I'm running/doing. I keep doing things then opening Recycle Bin to see if it's back to 'tiles' again, but nope...running normally, mysteriously.

would be nice to know if anyone else has experienced this (and whether or not it was limited to the Recycle Bin display)

...the 'tiles' default persisted all of yesterday, but this morning (it hasn't been shutdown or restarted since yesterday) the 'details' setting has remained as it should...for now.

baffling!
