Viewing Home Photos & Video On TV From My PC ?

Hello,

Have an older tv; no hdmi. just component inputs.

Have my pc hooked up to a very good router so I can use my iPad via wifi.

Is there any practical and inexpensive way I can view my home Photos and Videos that are now on my pc on my TV ?

How, please ?

I put my photos etc. on my iPad and, using the Apple Component cable attachment (bought from Amazon), show them on my old(ish) TV. Seems to work perfectly.

Good idea.

I was hoping to be able to send from my pc directly to TV via wifi using, perhaps,
One of those "streaming tv" boxes they are selling all over from about $ 50 upwards.
Roku, Netgear, apple, etc. all seem to make them.

Any thoughts,on this approach ?

I'd like to add that Apple's cable for connecting to the TV is only for SD resolution. It's a composite output not component. And the output is restricted to yester-year's SD format.

For a low cost solution (<$100) look for a media player that has component connectors. Then you can at least have 720p output (wide-screen) if you want it.

I use a WD HD TV Live (<$100) and it has both HDMI and ethernet. So I can plug into the home network and connect to my media server. Then b/c of the HDMI I can plug it into my A/V receiver and then connect another HDMI cable to my TV. The receiver uses the audio for the 5.1 and the video is sent off to the TV. BTW, this model does not have component connectors and will not work with your TV. But other models/media players do have component connectors.
