I installed Windows XP w/SP3 in virtual box. I have 2 desktops that are sharing a printer, I was wondering can I print using XP, from virual box, I installed the guest addition pack and the Extension pack, have a bridged adapter in virtual box and I also set XP to share folders, that is as far as I could get. I have not been able to find how to do the rest or if it can even be done. If it can please let me now and how to do it, or if not is there any kind of work around. Thank you

I better add, the host system is Windows 7 pro, the other computer is running Vista, these are the 2 computers that are sharing the printer.

Since you have windows 7 Professional, you may want to download xp mode which supports printer sharing. Here is the download page: Download Windows XP Mode

I know that but there is one thing about virtual XP, it supports 3d graphics and from what I know xpmode does not. I need XP to have 3D graphics, due to the work I do on XP, the graphics software that I use need 3D and it won't work under 7.

Hi there
sharing printers is simple == just treat the VM as another physical machine and then share printers as per normal methods.

Ensure your VM is accessible on your home network. Ensure Networking is enabled in the Virtual Machine settings.

I have a post somewhere on sharing printers between a combination of XP / W7 X-86 and X-64 machines.

It's post nr 5 in this thread (post by me jimbo45). Works whatever machine printer is attached to.
