I had a problem loading a program on my pc asus g73jw, I contacted the provider who was magicjack, they went into my pc could not get it to work on windows7, but they changed settings, which has caused my pc not to be able to open certain programs, I cannot do a restore point as this was deleted also,have contacted asus hot line no good they say do a full restore or recovery ,this concerns me as I have not done 1 b4,

Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

If the system seems like it is completely messed up, and you've spent 2 hours or more troubleshooting, I'd back up your data, wipe it clean and do a fresh install...if it was me.

Assuming you have the reinstall media, you just need to back up what's important to you to an external drive of some kind. Then you do a clean install, and move your files back from the external.

Understand that a "full restore" (presuming it works) will restore the PC to the state it was in when you first used it with Windows 7 -- basically, removing all applications, settings, and data added after that date.

If you have access to Win7 installation media, you can check the tutorials here for how to do a Repair Install -- that is much less descructive.

im wondering if they changed the compatability mode(s) to attempt the fix, try to restore the programs by removing the compatability mode: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html

Follow the instructions on-screen carefully...every manufacturer does it a bit differently.

Again, you have instructions provided....follow your manufacturer's instructions.

According to the Users manual for your computer, there is a Recovery Partition on the hard drive.
