Solved Virus over remote assistance?

I've got a friend on the other side of the U.S. that got a bad virus and doesn't know much about computers to fix it. I want to do a remote assistance on his computer to fix it for him (if possible). If I can do this, could the virus be sent to my computer?

Remote assistance is normally one-way so all should be well.

you should be okay - but make sure your shields are up!

I got him to run malware bytes and he had "trojan.dropper".
Do I need to take over his computer and do anything or should malware bytes do it all?

Make sure it is a full scan in the interim.{ Malwarebytes}

I got it all taken care of, turns out the reason he didn't catch this sooner is because he hadn't updated Malware bytes in over a year. Afer updating, it found 2 more trojans. I installed MSE and updated MB, ran them, everything appears to be clean now.
