My mother is afraid to touch virtually anything on her computer without my help, and I would like to allow unsolicited access to her Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit laptop from my Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit desktop. I've already added my desktop user account to her laptop as an Administrator and enabled Remote Assistance on her computer. We are on a LAN together.
However, it's impossible to open the Group Policy editor in Home Premium, so I can't set up unsolicited RA offers that way. I've also added the appropriate registry keys manually, but it still doesn't work. Using
to connect to her computer results in a "Your offer to help could not be sent" dialog box.
Is it impossible to allow unsolicited help from Ultimate to Home Premium without using third-party software? If not, how do I go about this?
