Vista x64 \Boot\BCD 0xc0000098 error want to reset/install 7

As the title states. I went through the multiple tutorials here and other sites (youtube, etc.). I can not get vista to boot up. It keeps saying the there is no OS installed. I messed around with it the end of last year and I recall following some forum tutorial and I noticed that in C: i have the windows users etc. files. and then in D: i have the sam, security etc. files. I also noticed there was a MOVE_RECOVERY file in I believe D:. Unless you all have an answer for me I just want to reset and install 7. How do I go about installing windows 7 when I had vista originally and it will not let me boot to windows? Just the windows recovery window with the custom vista boot cd i made. Thanks Solo

I assume that D is your recovery partition. It would be normal that it contains the same files as C. If you tamper with it, you are in trouble.

Installing Windows 7 should be easy. Just boot from your Windows 7 installation DVD and follow the wizard.

Sure. A new clean install of Windows 7 will wipe everything that was Vista.

Question: do you have an installation disc and product key for Windows 7 ?

No sir I do not. I could find one fairly easily I would think. Right?

The cheapest is probably this OEM version.

There is a 64 bit:

And a 32bit

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 32-bit - Operating Systems - Newegg.com

If you have less than 4GB of RAM, I would recommend the 32bit version.
