Hi, I'm looking to spice up the optic of my WMP 12.
Until now I'm using Bars & WavesScope but I could imagine something better.

For example something like a ... Level peak Indicator.
Not sure what the correct name for it is, but you can always see it on a mixer in professional music studios.

The louder the music is, the more bars lighten up.
For stereo it would be two horizontal lines, having each a number of bars.

I remember that a previous version of WMP (10) had something vertical.
There is a black circle around that thing on the picture.

Not sure about this one, but if you go to View > Skin > Visualization > Battery, you get tons of very nice skins.

Hi whs, thanks for the prompt reply.
I just checked all the visualizations again, but tbh ... I don't like any of them.
They are graphically very intense but I cannot see the them corresponding to the sound really.

Strange that there is nothing better than that.

Haha, yeah the bars.
Well, actually they're not as bad, but ...

1 _ I cannot change the color (would like to use a diff color from dark to bright)
2 _ I cannot change the number of bars (would like the bars to fill the width of the window)
3 _ I cannot switch off the peak delay (don't like it)
4 _ I cannot change the sensitivity (seems a little to high)

If I could modify all the above the way I like it, I'd be a happy bunny.

Hmm, you are a difficult customer. Unfortunately I do not have an answer for you. Maybe someone else has an idea. I am not so much into this visual stuff.

Hi, having just now researched a little deeper, looks like I found something interesting.

Miha Software Home

Installed the Analyzer first:

  • Line Bars (my personal favourite in blue)
  • Mirror Bars
  • Digital Bars
  • Line Ghost Bars
  • Mirrir Bars
  • Digital Ghost Bars
  • Bar Scope
  • Dot Scope

Change under More Options ► Plug ins ► Visualization ► Analyzed ► Properties ►

Offscreen Buffer size: select 1024 x 768 pixels

Color Schema: select blue, red or green

Visual Effects: tick / untick Blur Effect

restart WMP

Hi, I have made some adjustments to my taste ...

1. select the Offscreen Buffer size 1024 x 768

2. untick the blur effect

3. navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Miha Software Analyzed Visualization

4. There you'll find the following color related values

  • ColorBackground - Represents the color of the background (will ony be used if the Blur effect is disabled)
  • ColorTop - Represents the color of the top left bar
  • ColorTopEnd - Represents the color of the top right bar
  • ColorBottom - Represents the color of the bottom left bar
  • ColorBottomEnd - Represents the color of the bottom right bar
  • ColorPeak - Represents the color of the peaks
Color values are in standard hex format. Groups of two digits from left to right represent the folowing 8-bit values: Alpha, Red, Green, Blue.

Default values (blue)

Color background = ff000000

ColorBottom = ff193366
ColorBottomEnd = ff334cb2
ColorPeak = ff667fe5
ColorTop = ff334cb2
ColorTopEnd = ff4c66e5
Resolution = 3

5. First I changed ColorPeak to 000000, that removes the peak delay completely.

6. Then I changed ColorTop, ColorTopEnd, ColorBottom, ColorBottomEnd to ffFF4500

The outcome can be seen on the picture below ...

The bars do respond nicely and immediate to the sound, without any delay.
One thing I'm not happy with is, that the very right hand side doesn't seem to show any movements.

Google "Pixeltrip media player"

This is the best visualization i've ever come across. Very responsive and trippy. You can up the resolution and bits very high so it is extremely clear if your video card can handle it. Check it out. It is a pain to install as you have to register a dll file but it is worth it.

[/QUOTE]

The reason that bars from the right side doesn't respond it's because that's the high pitch sounds zone. Try some songs with some high pitch and you'll see that it's working just fine. Cheers!

Help!

I have tried two of the recommended visualizations in this thread, but they don't appear in the Media player list. Whassup? I've got 64 bit Seven, but I see you guys do too, so why isn't it showing in the list?
