Do you have a .vob codec? If not, try VLC.

Hi there
some movie files especially DVD's are "Encrypted".

The best way of backing up and "De-regionalising" DVD's etc is to use a combination of DVDSHRINK and DVD Decrpter (or a Front end that calls both these programs RipIt4Me -- works on W7 X-64 too.

You can then play these files in WMC and can copy these as SINGLE layer ISO's to say another hard drive or to a DVD. You will then be able to play ANY region on any computer or DVD player. (Note NOT BLU RAY -- these are encrpted totally differently).

Cheers
jimbo

Eldinv,

1) What codec do you have installed right now? Go to its configuration properties and check what it says under MPEG2 decoder. If its default, change to Haali.

2) If 1) does not work, try downloading Shark's codec pack.

3) If nothing works, try renaming .vob to .MPG

Having said all that, jimbo is right. Best to rip to the dvd folder structure using DVDshrink and DVDdecrypter.
