Volume control based on time of day?

Are there any utilities that can adjust the volume control based on the time of day?

If I turn the PC on before work at 5am, I don't want it loud. If the wife or kids use the PC the volume control could be at any setting.

Basically I want to be able to tell the computer...

... at 9am, put the system volume at 80%
... at 10pm, put the system volume at 60%
... at midnight, put the system volume at 40%

Can volume be controlled from the command line? I could use the task scheduler to do this if so.

Have a look at Nircommand NirCmd - Windows command line tool this has programmable volume control. it should be possible to set up tasks to perform the changes you need at a set time using the task scheduler ( set task to run at a set time and to run as soon as possible after the time to ensure it always runs .

Not hard at all - but if you forget the log-on sound in windows can be quite an effective alarm clock

I think it would probably be difficult to automate the sound adjustment on a long term basis with accuracy.
To keep the PC from starting up with sound, remove the check from the following:

I have used Nircmd to automate this in the past, successfully, it just needs thought as to when to set the volume. I found it better to lower the volume at a set time (late night), and then increase during the day, the task manager also has options to inform the user when the changes are performed
