Volume control not working?

The icon on my taskbar is not function. Okay, when I change the volume through my keyboard it works fine. I can still get into Sound Options (Playback/Recording/Sounds/Communications) but Volume Control, Volume Mixer, and Volume Control Options won't load. Nor will they load through Control Panel.

Strange, they were working earlier today.

I'm using Windows 7 SP1

Since this is a recent problem, use the System Restore and restore back to a date when it did work. Usually this will take care of new problems. System Restore can be accessed from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools. System Restore will not delete any user date or e-mails.
