Hey guys.

My father is having a few issues with BSOD crashes on his computer and (because I live in Cambridge, almost 100 miles from him) I've had to connect remotely via TeamViewer to use the BSOD log collector. These crashes are not mine. I've posted here as a little "log" so I can help him, but also would like some help from you guys if possible.

BSOD dump files are of course included in the attachment.

Diagnostic Test

 RAM TEST

arrow.png
Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 7 Forums

   Note
picture.php

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 complete passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

Make a photo of the result and post it.

Addition:
If errors show up you can stop the test, remove all sticks but 1 and test this single stick in each slot for 8 passes or until errors show, switch sticks and repeat.
If errors show up and you see them a lot later, no problem, the errors don't affect the test.

I have already removed Norton remotely. That was the first thing I did after having running the BSOD log collector. I'll download and install MSE as I am connected to his computer right now. As for MemTest, he needs to do that himself but he may not know how to run it. I'll try to explain it to him as best I can.

I'll run sfc /scannow myself for him as well. I've told him he needs to try and get more RAM of the same manufacturer/model.

My dads PC crashed again a couple of times.

Also, he informs me that he didn't uninstall the old ATI drivers after installing his new NVIDIA graphics card. I'll remove the old drivers with DDU and install new drivers for his GPU from NVIDIA.

Not removing the AMD drivers shouldn't cause any problems as they aren't used anymore with NVIDA.

Either of the crashes, the 0x3D, may be difficult to troubleshoot, it is a bugcheck that is almost entirely undocumented. It is only described that it is very infrequently occuring where the parameters have no description.
Based on it's name it may be possible to think of possible causes though.

For now I am not adding suggestion until it is certain MemTest86+ is showing good results.

Thanks for the response.

I told my dad to leave Windows Memory Diagnostic to run for 2 passes (by default) as he hasn't been able to put MT64 onto a USB drive yet. I'll be sure to let him know that he needs to do that.

Once again, axe, thanks for your support, buddy! It's highly appreciated as always!

In the case of boot problems from the boot options you need to check the BIOS settings, a reset to the optimal default settings or check for settings that change the boot mode (UEFI to legacy)

He definitely doesn't have UEFI.

There shouldn't be a lot of trouble to boot MemTest86+ in that case, at least much less than with UEFI.
