Hi,

I cant install drivers because every time that I try appear the below message...

"the NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Set up will not exit"

My nvidia 8800 gt is compatible with w7, it works after w7 installation, but like 3 or 4 restarts does not detect it anymore.

The only card that appear in my device manager window is the on board card... Intel(R) G965 Express Chipset Family.

When I was working with vista my video card always was detected.

Any suggestions??

Sounds like you need to disable the integrated graphics in the BIOS.

Waht do you mean by "not detected"?

You have the monitor connected to the 8800GT, and after a few restarts, you get no video?

Do you have any option in the BIOS settings for the order of graphics detection?

What's your motherboard? (Fillling in your system specs may be helpful.)

im not sure about the BIOS option, i need to check that.

motherboard: Intel Stoughton DG965OT, I will update all my system specs in my profile soon.

gusanto, keep it plugged into your graphics card. Go into BIOS and disable on board video. Make sure you have the right graphics driver, and then try installing as admin. What happens?

Gusanto, there is no need to post in that thread to ask how to flash a BIOS. If you know the name of your motherboard, we can give you instructions on how to do it as each board is different.

Hey!!

ok i tried to update my bios without any positive result, i ran the exe file downloaded from the intel webpage and stopped at the start of the installation and said this system doesn not aloud that BIOS.

Also i tried to disable the on board card in BIOS but is an option, only to put as primary card the pcie, but nothing.

Another thing that i saw but im not sure if is relationed is that in my device manager window appear the below devise with a yellow exclamation "ATI unified avstream driver", i installed catalyst but the yellow mark still there, also i tried to installed manually but without results.

i saw also that my motherboard is not supported for windows 7, but im not sure if that is a cause.

a last thing while i wait for your suggestions is that i have a radeon x1950 pro card, is my old card and im pretty sure taht this card is working properly, i didnt want to put this card because i was thinking that the nvidia issue it will fixing faster, is a suggestion from you that i put this card to test something or can we still doing another thing with the 8800 gt?

oohhh i forgot a last thing that i saw in the last hours, i used my nvidia card to play WoW and Starcraft 2 the last days when I had vista (/cry) but right now when i try to run both games they dont start, I thing this problem is also relationed with this video issues.

im refusing to believe that my nvidia is dead, i still thinking that is a software problem.

thank you for help in advance

You are going to need to update your BIOS through the BIOS itself, DO NOT use a program from Windows.

32bit or 64bit, I'm going to say from what it sounds like he's trying to install the wrong drivers as they do come in different packages.

no, i tried to install the correct drivers for my system (windows 7 ultimate 32 bit), but start the installation wizard it says that there is no hardware for that drivers.

im trying to remember all, step by step when this happend, I installed windows 7, but it had many problems (black screen issue i cant go into windows 7 for several trys, until i can) and i had to restart manually my pc a lot of times. but my nvidia work all the time (automatically) like when i was working on vista, when
i can start windows, when i fixed the black screen issue (with a cursor blinking on the upper left side of the screen), i tried to uploaded the nvidia drivers to the latest (version 258.96) when the installation was at the middle i guess, stopped and put a message that this drivers are not compatible and needs to restore to the last drivers, something like that (i dont remember very well that message), then the screen puts completely black, without any cursor only black without any cursor, after that i restart my pc manually, with manually i mean that i push the power button until the pc is shutdown. Then I turn on the pc, and the graphic card still working good, but another time appear the black screen with the cursor blinking and i cannot go into windows, so i had to restart manually again my pc, after some trys to fix that windows problems and a little more restarts my monitor dont detected any kind of video and turns off, i try to restart again, i pushed my the power button of my computer, but always i had to push twice because the first time that i pushed the power button the pc shutdown a few seconds then another time and at the 2nd time it works but without any video signal to the monitor.

In that time i knew that my card had something wrong, so i changed to my vga cable from the dvi that i was using and i connected to my on board vga and the video signal works, after some trys i can fixed the windows black screen problem. But start my current nvidia 8800 gt problem.

At this moment im feel confused and i not know what to do, please give some suggestions i will test all.

thank you.

Gusanto, at this point it might be easier to wipe your drive and reinstall Windows 7, as it looks like something got seriously corrupted.

After you do this, boot into BIOS, and check to make sure the the video card is recognized and onboard graphics are disabled.
Then boot into Windows and install the NVidia Drivers.

Very well could be the limited W7 support:
Microsoft Windows 7* Notice:
Availability of Microsoft Windows 7* 32-bit and 64-bit drivers may be limited for some Intel Desktop Boards. All board features (audio, video, LAN, etc.) may not be supported. Refer to the download page for your board.

I would have suggested install the motherboard drivers in Vista compatibility, but..
Microsoft Windows Vista* Notice:
Availability of Microsoft Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit drivers may be limited for some Intel Desktop Boards. All board features (audio, video, LAN, etc.) may not be supported. Refer to the download page for your board.

BUT there are drivers for it for 32bit or 64bit W7
Chipset: Intel® Chipset Device Software for Intel® Desktop Boards

Anywho, yeah I would try the clean install, then install these motherboard/chipset drivers, then Nvidia drivers.

Did you get the four methods of BIOS update download? I would try the ISO image one

hey guys!!

im so close or far, i dont know lol, i just made a clean install of windows 7, i updated all the files available from windows update, i downloaded the chipset drivers that josh put in his last post, then i tried to upload all the files for my motherboard from intel webpage and gateway webpage, they are for windows vista at last, when i try to installed them it says that i have a different system installed, so i try with compatibility modes without any results, maybe im doing wrong, but i followed all the steps from below guide

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html

so im thinking that there is no error than my motherboard is too old for this system, and i have two possible solutions, 1. buy another motherboard, that at this moment is better to buy a new pc or 2. downgrade to xp or vista, the best for gaming, please advice.

Or if there is another options to still testing, i dont want to give up, i really like this system and azeroth can wait, im sure if i can install those drivers, my card will be alive again with w7.

The drivers that i tried to installed are below...

Hi,

i had bad news, after some trys, i downgrade to windows vista, but my card still dont been recognized.

1. i made a clean vista installation.
2. i installed all the drivers that i can found for chipset, motherboard (from gateway webpage and intel webpage).
3. i download and installed all the files from windows update.
4. i updated the BIOS.
5. i quit my card from pci-e slot i put it again.

after all of this, i still cant install the drivers. the message that appear is next "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

My BIOS doesnt have an option to disable onboard card, the only thing that i can do is to set pci-e as primary, but nothing happens. Also I tried to disable my onboard card from device manager, then only appear vga standar, and when i try to install the drivers for that
"vga standar card" directly from device manager, the only card that installs is intel graphics g965 (my onboard card).

All this time im been connected with vga cable from my onboard port to vga port on my monitor, but also i have the dvi cable from my 8800 gt to the svi port on my monitor, but after the issue my monitor never is receiving video signal from my video card.

I know that here is not the right forums because i already have vista, but you know all the history and can give me some last suggestions or tell me something to test if my card is already not working, to not loose more time and i start to think in buy other. I really was thinking that when i return to vista my card start to be detected again but nothing, im very desesperated because i think that my card works but i cant make it work. so, please help me.

Thank you.
