Hi
i found out that sometime (maybe when w7 is idle) performs a full defrag ,i'm not talking about boot defrag to make w7 boots more fast

for example i found out today , my xp was been full defrag , i use mydefrag for xp

well how could be happen ?

i know for sure because i put on my xp partition my mp3 in the external side of the hard disk , i mean the more slow part of the hard disk, now they are in the fast zone
i don't use automatic schedule of mydefrag and i don't use the mydefrag screensaver

so i'm sure it was w7
how can i avoid it?

i have 2 hard disk

1) one for w7
2) another for xp

thanks

On Windows Seven somewhere inside Computer management - Task Scheduler is a task for automatically defragmenting hard disks. I think by default it runs at 3 AM.

What do you mean by mp3s moving from one side of a disk to another?
Disk defragmenters do not move file from one partition to another.
Also when you are looking at the picture where Windows Disk defragmenter displays data, know that the picture doesn't really show how the data is phisically stored on the disk. There is no slow and fast parts on modern disks anymore (bad sector remapping).
