Hello all;

Last night I was updating ZoneAlarm, then foolish me ran CCleaner during ZA's install. The OS still starts up but the internet is not detected.
I ran another OS from CD/DVD & connected just fine.
Don't know where to begin to give info that would be helpful to correct this problem.
I did try Troubleshooting but that just suggested to restart the modem (I am on DSL), no help.
[not meaning to influence anyone opinion] Almost seems like the NIC (old term?) driver got messed up but don't know how to tell for sure.

Don't know where to go from here.
Hope someone's directions can help

My first attempt would be to try and run a system restore to a point before the ZA install. This way we can see if any registry or configuration conflicts are of the cause. You may also want to try and run an sfc scan to verify the integrity of your core install.

Hope This Helps,
Josh :)

Thank you all who responded.
I did some further searching before checking back here & found a site that recommended, among other things, to uninstall the Network Adapter thru Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Device Manager. On restart the system reinstalled the Network Adapter & connected! Problem solved!
I then had to reinstall ZA but that was secondary.
Thank you all again who responded!
