W7 wont install onto a pair of raid drives.?!

Hi All,

I recently sold a pair of drives which i had installed W7 onto.

The drives were configured as AHCI in the bios.

The buyer has come back to me witht he following message:

i received the hard drives today. i can install windowsd 7 in the 2 drives. whats wrong? i try in raid mode and non raid mode and nothing. says that i can install files in this discs. what operating system was there before? thank you

Short of them being damaged in transit I cannot see any reason why they would not allow W7 to install on them

Am I missing something? I have asked him to supply details of his motherboard. Are there any other questions I should ask?

As long as the drives we functioning as advertised, I wouldnt get involved with his ability/lack of to install anything... unless you dont have anything better to do...

They were perfectly working and tested with WD's own tools before dispatch.

I've had this from him:

ok i have a core i7 920 and the motherboard is a Gigabyte EX58-UD3R Socket 1366. i already install the last bios. this happend only in this this. if i install in others with 7200 rpm o don't have problems at all. thank you.

The only thing I can do in reality is help him along or claim on the postal insurance as they were shipped abroad. It would be unrealistic to offer a refund as I can't account for what happenned between uk and portugal.

Tell him to set the controllers to AHCI and install Windows 7 to one of the drives. Assuming these were mechanical drives, he's just wasting his time with RAID anyway. If that works, then it is some configuration error in his system that you aren't obligated to fix.
