W7 - Xerox 8550 Now B&W

I installed Windows 7 Professional x64 and my Xerox 8550 printer which was a really nice color printer in VISTA. Now in Windows 7 x64 it is only a Black & White printer. Can anyone help me figure out why and what to fix please?

FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Courtesy of the person fixing an Xerox 8400 - here is their solution that worked for me!!!!!

Just had a conversation with Xerox on how to get any Xerox printer working with their Windows 7 Global Driver.

Right Click on the Printer and go to Printer Properties.

Then Click on the "Options" tab

Expand Device Options

There should be an option called "Configuration" drop that down and select your printer.

Then click apply.

I then had to go back in and select "Vivid Color" to get the 8400 to print in color. This can be done by going back into Printer and Devices and double clicking on your printer. Double click on "Adjust Print Options" Click on Color options tab and select Vivid Color.

One caveat. This is Windows 7 Professional 64 bit OS.

After doing the above my XEROX 8550 printer printed color that was overly vivid and unrealistic. To fix that, I went in and did all of the above again, saved it and restarted the machine. Then, I went in using the above instructions and instead of selecting vivid color, I selected normal color. That done, I saved it. Then again I restarted the machine.

Then to test if it works, double click a JPEG and select print in Windows Photo viewer and if it shows color you have your 8550 printer back printing normally (Pretty good color pictures). Hope this helps you getting the printer to print good color prints again like I have gotten it to do!
