I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 pro. I've been setting up a new OS disk and found a strange thing.
I have set the start menu power button to Sleep. It changes itself back to Shut Down.
If I restart the computer, it will change back to Sleep, but during the day it changes back to Shut Down.
Has anyone seen this before? Very strange.

Never mind. I found what the problem was. I had looked in the registry and found that when the setting was changed in the start button property page, the changes was made in the registry, even though it was not reflected in the button text. So then I was more confused. So I just clicked on the Shut Down button to see if it was merely a display issue. Nope. Even though I had Windows update set to not download or install updates, it did it anyway. When I clicked the Shut Down button, it started installing updates. So it seems that if you have updates waiting, the button will always show Shut Down, no matter how you have it configured. That kind of sucks.
