I just noticed it yesterday. I check the event viewer every now and again and found that. I didn't install anything

This error typically happens during a shutdown when Windows is - in a manner of speaking - putting the Registry to rest but a program still wants to use it before signaling to Windows that it's done and ready to shut down.

It appears to be a harmless error as generally there is no performance impact or other consequence to observe, though in extreme cases (which I haven't seen personally) it could cause the stubborn process to hang, crash or corrupt whatever it wants to store in the Registry. A possible sign of this happening could be, for example, trying to run the same program again after restarting Windows and experiencing a problem with it.

The registry itself will probably not be affected and its integrity is maintained by Windows.

Unless you're having other trouble, it's probably safe to ignore this message.

I agree with Corazon, the Event Viewer always has a slew of errors and warnings which have no effect on the system.

okay thanks guys. I thought maybe my profile might have messed it up. The tech who installed my win 7 had it set with no password and all I had to do with click my little picture. Well I decided to put me as administrator with a password, and I thought some things got messed up.

I have gotten that same warning since installing Windows 7 and Windows Live Essentials on three different PC's. I use Windows Live Mail client but do not login to Windows Live Mail but this service is still required although not used. Just some bloat ware that is not needed and causes these warnings. I have learned to ignore it as everything is working fine.
