It is my brother's hard drive & it has very important data related to his working. It is a 2tb WD my passport ultra external hard disk which was used as NTFS with only one partition.
My brother told me that he deleted some data from the drive by mistake and was recovering the data from the drive but all the windows recovery programs he used just hanged after few minutes (which is also a sign of bad sectors). Then he done the blundered:mad: mistake by formatting the drive, the formatting also not completed due to hang situation.

Now the current situation is that the drive is not showing in the windows explorer and when I open the disk management ,the popup came up for initializing the disk either as MBR or GPT. When I try to initialize the disk, it gives me this error:- "The request failed due to a fatal device hardware error". I have attached a few screenshots below.

I have tried cloning the drive with clonezilla, tried booting the drive with parted magic, Hire n boot and system rescue CD but neither of them recognized the drive and some also rejected to boot with the drive attached.
Now currently i am scanning this disc for recovering the lost partition in the 'Partition Recovery Wizard' software according to the advice on some old thread here, but this software has detected my disk as 'bad Disk' in the file System column as you can see in the fifth image, so i don't have much hope with this software.

Please tell me if there is any :Dhope left for drive like trying any other partition recovery software or cloning the drive via some tools.

Thanks in advance:):)

Hello nsingla and I am sorry you and your brother have this problem!

Things don't look so good now. You've done and tried a lot with aim you need, still looks like the drive's partition table and/or file system are corrupted to a stage that prevents other software to work correctly onto the drive.

I could additionally suggest trying to scan and repair the drive. Try downloading the WD ultra Drive Utilities for Windows and see if you could repair the drive:

If nothing works, the drive is probably too damaged and beyond repair. Hope this is not the case. But perhaps the worst part for the drive was the formatting attempt. Which, by definition, would delete everything from the HDD.

Good luck and post back with results!

That does not look good, at all...
I don't know about data recovery, to me it seems we are past that point...
Once you are done with the efforts, then you could try and recover the drive itself (*NOT THE DATA*)...
There's a piece of software that could help with that: HDDGURU: HDD LLF Low Level Format Tool
With that, you can do a low level format of the device...
It will destroy everything, but if the actual drive is recoverable, this should do it.

I am not worried regarding the drive guys, it is in warranty & can be replaced anytime, but the data in it is more costly.
so please tell me if there is anything i can do for recovering data or making a clone/imaging this drive.

Well, usually the drive may be recovered as data or cloned if it is recognizable.

But the chance of you cloning the errors and issues, as well as everything else, would be quite big, so it's not advised.

If the programs you can use by yourself don't work, you may need to turn to a professional data recovery. If it helps these are WD's partners on the matter, under the different regions:
