Hey all I've been having this issue since I installed Windows 7 x64 RC, basically any time I view a web video my computer is liable to freeze up completely, with the sound producing awful static, needing a hard reset.

I've tried all browsers and it makes no difference. I've tried a variety of solutions others have posted about frozen computers =I've tried reinstalling browsers and flash. I've tried updating GPU drivers, downgrading GPU drivers. I've tried the windows lan driver, I've tried my manufacturers windows 7 driver. None of it makes any difference. I can otherwise browse and download fine. I can play games fine and I ran a stress test and it found no issues with the CPU/RAM.
And the damnedest thing is, I can go to one of those flash game sites and boot up 20 games and my computer doesn't even slow down, let alone freeze. I'm at a loss here, I can't single any component out, not even flash itself. Its very frustrating.

System specs are:
Windows 7 x64 RC
9800GT
i5 750
4GB DDR3 RAM
Gigabyte UD3R socket 1156 Mobo.

I realise that Flash does not have an x64 version (that I know of), but the browsers are also x86 so i

Anyone have any ideas?

TIA. :)

Sounds like you have tried about everything so maybe this should be a next step.

You might want to check the memory voltage and timing settings in bios and set to them up to manufacture specs. Those settings can have a huge impact on system stablity.

The i5 uses the low voltage DDR3 so 1.65 for memory voltage is the most you should use.

The Auto settings for memory timings aren't always correct so check them to make sure they are set to manufacture specs.

Thanks for the reply! It definitely had something to do with the voltages as you said.

After reading it I started googling voltages for my ram (corsair TW3X4G1333C9A) and quickly found the auto settings were at the manufacture specs (1.5v). However I also read about other users having issues and actually increasing the voltage to 1.6v worked for them. I slowly increased my voltage and was testing and at 1.64v it appears to be working perfectly. I've tested for several hours across a few sites and loaded up a dozen youtube tabs at once and it hasn't frozen (usually this would freeze within 30seconds), so *fingers crossed* this is solved.

Wierd that only web video exposed this issue, but I'm just glad its working again.

Thanks again mate.

Glad you have it working now, be sure and mark this problem as solved so that others can benifit from this post.

Yes it seems that the importance of those settings is often overlooked but as you found out they are very important to have set up correctly.

Remember to rep me by clicking on the little scale upper right,. OR maybe one of the regs should rep for this one as my solution was most ingenious.
