So, i have this webcam, got it from my friend, and i dont have any CD's or instruction manuals for it. All i know currently is that it was made by Logitech. So, it doesnt work in Skype, so is there a way to get drivers for it?

Hi Coolnes, by the way nice badge.
You may be able to get the manuals on line. Go to the website, but you will need the model number. It should be on the webcam

does the machine detect it..??, if so i had problems with skype & my Logitech webcam....

are you using ''skype 4+'', the only way i could get mine working was to use ''skype 4 BETA'' but i think the official update has been out a while...??

I have skype 4.1
And no, the system does'nt detect it if i put it in the port.

And no, the system does'nt detect it if i put it in the port.

drivers are useless if the machine wont detect the device.

are you sure the cam actually works..??, have you seen it working elsewhere..??, if not is there another machine you could try it in.

& your sure the ports your using are fully functional..??

i know these are stupid questions, but .....

see, there isnt any reason the OS would disable/not register a device unless there's a H/W problem... i cant see it being S/W conflict.??

Youre right, come to think of it, ive never seen it actually work. But my friend guarantees that it works, and i trust him. I could go over to Ubuntu and try it out there? Also, i have 8 Usb ports in the back of my computer (4x2) and 2 in the front. I had previously put it in the back, and no message had came up. Now i put it in the front, and "windows is installing drivers..." "windows Could not install the drivers".

so, it seems the front ports get you a little further than the rear......

so have you got other USB devices which you use on your machine..??, we need to rule out the possibility that your machine has USB driver issues.??


with the webcam plugged in, go to the ''device manager'' & check the devices list & see if there's anything with a ''warning'' icon next to it...

try & let windows update the drivers required off the net for the offending devices, if it fails select the CD drive & try to pull off the webcam drivers..

So, i have a Apple keyboard that works fine. Also a Usb MIcrosd adapter. That works too. My friend brought a Usb external HDD, it worked fine. Only the webcam has the "warning" icon. when i troubleshoot, it says the camera has no driver. Next it says it couldnt find one for it.

when you try to troubleshoot & it asks for the location of said drivers instead of searching the web point it to the CD drive & we'll see what happens, if it still fails to locate a driver we've got problems..

ok, so you have no driver disc & no way of knowing what model webcam you have, your gonna have to track down the webcam off the net so you can d/l the correct driver & either run it off the HDD or stick it onto disc.

there's not much that can be done until you find what cam it is, can you not ask your friend if he knows..??

He's out of town. He'll be back tonight. Probably has the manual but not the CD. Ill ask him. The list at Logitch's site is very narrow. Only the newest models?

nope, sorry. The Cam works in ubuntu tho. So it works. just need drivers for Win7

And above guy, thats not my problem sorry, only thing im looking for is drivers.

What is the model number of the webcam? Are you sure that it is Logitech?
