Weird Network Connection after uninstall of OpenVPN

Hi guys,

after I uninstalled OpenVPN recently I have a weird network issue. I can browse the internet with Firefox or receive E-Mail with Thunderbird, but programs like Rainmeter cant connect to the net anymore. Also, the built-in browser in Thunderbird shows me a message that says something about the proxy server refusing connections.

I don't know what would cause this behavior, I think when I uninstalled OpenVPN it also deleted a network connection that OpenVPN was using. But I have no idea where I should start looking into.

okay nevermind, somehow when i set no proxy in the network options of thunderbird, the built-in browser of tb works again. although i always had set it to use system proxy which always worked.

could this be the problem? that the proxy settings of the system got changed and did not change back when I uninstalled OpenVPN?

If this is the case, how do I change the proxy settings of the system?
