What Anti-Virus should I install on Win7?

I have been using AVG on WinXP, but since I am switching to Win7, I guess I would try another one... or perhaps stick with the same??? What do you suggest...

a lot comes down to personal choice.

i like kaspersky 2010, other people prefer different software.

As Mickey Megabyte said, its more important to go with what feels best with you.

Pretty much all anti-virus/security software packages will be written or have been updated already to work with W7.

Of course there are a multitude of AV programs available, the best one is oft overlooked and used the least .... it lies between your ears!! Common sense and vigilance will do more to protect you against viruses than the peddlers of AV programs would have you think..

That being said, MSE is a solid program that offers good protection for the average user...

I use Avira, it is very good.

i always used Avira ,but ditched it because for some reason on 64bit i couldnt disable start up splash screens through the usual way that i did with 32bit is through regedit Open regedit and navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
In the right pane double-click avgnt and add /nosplash at the end of the path (ex. /min /nosplash). but theres know avgnt key in that registry location

has anyone found an alternativeway to disable splash screen?

I would recommend the latest Norton AV, or the corporate edition. Those one of the highest detection rates and low resource usage. Otherwise a solution like Kaspersky is good. Some other anti-virus products I don't prefer because they continiously prove to have low(er) detection rates and/or more resource usage.
